Bollywood Legend Amitabh Bachchan Buys Three Neighboring Plots in Alibaug
Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has acquired three adjoining
land parcels in Alibaug, a coastal town near Mumbai known for its luxury second
homes and holiday retreats. The plots, purchased in a premium development named
'A Alibaug' Phase-2 by The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), span a total of
9,557 sq ft and are collectively valued at ₹6.59 crore, according to property
registration records accessed by CRE Matrix.
The transactions were officially registered on October 7,
2025, with a stamp duty of ₹39.58 lakh and a registration fee of ₹90,000.
Bachchan bought plot numbers 96, 97, and 98 from HOABL Landbuild Pvt Ltd, with
individual plot values at ₹2.78 crore, ₹1.92 crore, and ₹1.88 crore
respectively.
This is not Bachchan’s first investment in the area. In
April 2024, he purchased a 10,000 sq ft plot in the same A Alibaug development
for ₹10 crore. The project, spanning 20 acres, was launched in April 2023 and
is rapidly becoming a hotspot for luxury real estate.
Reasons Why is Alibaug Real Estate Market Booming
Located about three hours by road and under an hour via
Ro-Ro ferry from South Mumbai, Alibaug is seeing a surge in high-end real
estate development. Emaar India recently announced plans to build 84 villas across
25 acres, with prices ranging from ₹9 crore to ₹15 crore. Oberoi Realty has
acquired 81 acres in the region to develop a luxury hotel and branded
residences.
Hiranandani Communities, led by Niranjan Hiranandani,
launched Hiranandani Sands, a 225-acre integrated township in Alibaug on
September 29, 2025. The project is backed by a ₹5,000 crore investment and has
an estimated gross development value (GDV) of ₹17,000 crore.
Alibaug continues to attract Bollywood celebrities as a
preferred destination for second homes. Notable owners include Suhana Khan
(daughter of Shah Rukh Khan), Kriti Sanon, Kartik Aaryan, and now, once again,
Amitabh Bachchan.
Real Estate Investments and Bachchan’s Growing Interest in Immovable Asset
In January 2025, Amitabh Bachchan sold a duplex apartment in
Mumbai’s Andheri for ₹83 crore, according to the report published in Hindustan Times. A year earlier, in
January 2024, he also purchased a land parcel from HoABL in Ayodhya’s The
Sarayu, a 7-star mixed-use project. The planned home there is estimated at
around 10,000 sq ft and valued at ₹14.5 crore.
In 2023, Bachchan and his wife, Jaya Bachchan, gifted their
iconic Pratiksha bungalow in Juhu to their daughter, Shweta Nanda. This was the
first of five family-owned properties in the area, acquired after the success
of Sholay (1975). Other notable Juhu properties include Janak (used as an
office), and two more bungalows—Vatsa and Ammu, parts of which have been leased
to major banks.
